The Tailings, Water and Environment team is looking for an Environmental Field Scientist / Environmental Technologist to join the AtkinsRéalis in Northwest, BC. This role is a key part of our regional growth strategy and will support major industrial clients by providing on the ground environmental field expertise.
This is a Kitimat based position with a strong emphasis on fieldwork (>50%). You will work closely with experienced professionals across BC and support a wide range of environmental investigation, monitoring, and remediation projects. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and on the job training will be provided.
This role will be based in Kitimat, BC.
Living and working out of Kitimat, BC, you will:

Conduct environmental field programs including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, waste, and vapour sampling, as well as compliance, stormwater, and leachate monitoring.

Calibrate equipment and collect, log, and manage data in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, including detailed field notes and photo documentation.

Support and oversee soil investigation and remediation programs, including in situ/ex situ testing, waste tracking, and contributing to factual and interpretive reporting.

Coordinate field logistics including equipment, PPE, consumables, and laboratory submissions; maintain field inventory and a home office setup.

Manage fieldwork execution by organizing schedules, tracking time, maintaining a company vehicle, and supporting project managers to deliver projects on time and on budget.

Participate in project planning and execution, including kickoff meetings, adapting to new challenges, and contributing to regional growth opportunities.

Ensure health and safety compliance by preparing and following safety plans, leading or attending daily safety meetings, and completing required safety documentation (e.g., Step Back forms).

A diploma or Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, geology, soil science, environmental engineering, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in environmental site assessment and remediation. A focus on mining and/or metallurgical facilities (or equivalent experience) would be an asset.

Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional body (EGBC, BC Institute of Agrologists, Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC, etc.).

Ability to lift/carry field equipment up to 50 lbs. Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.

Comfortable working independently in remote field settings, with the ability to travel throughout northwest BC, including occasional overnight stays.

Experience in technical report writing, ability to draft high quality reports under guidance is an asset.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $80,700 - $95,000 annually) (Only Applicable to British Columbia).
