Search & Rescue Denim Co. is a Vancouver-based manufacturer of premium handmade aprons and workwear. We've been producing in small batches out of our Granville Island studio since 2013, supplying hospitality groups, restaurants, and trades clients across Canada and the US — every piece going out with a lifetime repair guarantee.
We're heading into our busiest season and need an experienced production sewer to join the team on a contract basis for the next few months. This is a production-pace role for someone already at speed. You'll be sewing real volume from day one, so we're looking for a skilled sewer who can drop in with minimal ramp-up, not someone we'll be training on the floor.
The Role
- Production sewing across our full line: canvas, denim, poly-cotton, leather, and vinyl
- Hitting batch targets at production speed through peak season
- Operating industrial machines, primarily single needle lock stitch, serger and walking-foot
- Keeping your own station running — basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting (threading, tension, needle changes, minor adjustments) without pulling other sewers off the line
- Contributing across stages as needed — cutting, serging, pressing, finishing, QC, packaging
- Maintaining a clean, organized work station and working collaboratively to hit targets
What We're Looking For
- Fast and consistent at production volume — this is the core of the role. You take pride in clean work and you move
- 3+ years of industrial sewing in a production environment (not sample/atelier-only)
- Confident and self-sufficient on walking-foot machines
- Leather experience a strong asset
- Able to pick up new products quickly with minimal supervision
- Reliable, self-directed, and an easy fit on a small, experienced team
How to Apply
Apply through Indeed with your resume and a short note covering:
- The machines you've worked on, and the kinds of products you've sewn in a production setting
- The pace/volume of the environments you've worked in
- Whether you're comfortable maintaining and troubleshooting your own machine
Strong candidates may be invited in for a short paid trial shift so we can see how you work on a real batch before confirming the contract.
