Position Overview
This position requires a self-motivated HR professional who is efficient and adept at identifying and implementing solutions to improving operational effectiveness. Must ensure strictest level of confidentiality. This position will provide Human Resources support for the YWCA Halifax.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Some knowledge of Human Resources Management normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management or Labour Relations (Cases for Equivalency will be considered).
· Should have at least 1-3 years of human resources experience including experience in recruitment
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Exceptional communication, verbal, and written skills.
· Advanced ability to research and analyse complex concepts and plan strategically.
· Superior organizational and administrative skills, superior knowledge of current computer applications including word processing and spreadsheet software.
· Proven ability to work from an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed framework.
· Knowledge of and willingness to support feminist values, services focused on the needs of women and girls, and gender diverse persons.
Essential Duties of Position:
- Prepare job postings and submit to employment organization(s)
- Review and forward resumes and applications to appropriate Manager/Director and maintain files for each
- Assist with development and standardization of job descriptions
- Assist with pre-screening questions for candidates when required
- Assist with interviews and selection process of candidates
- Process criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks when requested
- Ensure proper hiring documentation is received and authorized
- Maintain personnel records for current and past employees
- Ensure all staff sign the policy and procedure acknowledgement
- Develop and maintain staff information resources
- Develop a standardized onboarding process
- Manage check lists for new and departing employees
- Ensure new hire packages are up to date/complete
- Manage all required HR forms
- Ensure employees have required training (first aid, WHMIS) and arrange training opportunities
- Manage parking and bus pass requirements
- Maintain a list of employment centres, websites and organizations for job postings
- Liaise with IRCC to provide appropriate documentation and support for foreign workers
Other Duties:
- Identify and pursue opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Other duties as delegated by the Human Resources Manager.
- Nurture and form meaningful internal/external partnerships.
