As a "wholesale" broker, we are committed to simplifying insurance for our 4,000 partner brokers who market APRIL Canada offers, and for their policyholders, all by investing massively in 2 assets: People and Digital.
We are currently seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter to join our department. Reporting to the Commercial Underwriting & Operations Manager of the Department. Your primary role will be to underwrite and analyze risks for acceptability, to increase revenues, while improving our retention rates. More specifically, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Underwriting new business & renewals, respecting the insurer's delegation of authority
- Apply critical thinking and risk analysis methodologies in risk selection
- Negotiate renewal and pricing to ensure sustainable profitable business
- Communicate with brokers (by telephone and email) to ensure fast, courteous and professional service consistently
- Actively build and maintain strong relationships with broker partners
This job can be yours if you have:
- More than 5 years of Commercial Underwriting Experience
- Advanced underwriting skills in at least 5 of our 12 lines of business which include: Realty, Student Housing, Manufacturing / Wholesaling, Contractors, MTC, Construction, Hospitality, Professional Lines (Miscellaneous D&O/E&O/Med Mal), Cyber, Vacant Land, and CGL including USA exposure
- Great ease with Outlook, Word and Excel tools
- Excellent oral and written communication
