We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician who takes pride in noticing the small details that prevent bigger problems and providing practical solutions. This is a hands-on role suited to someone dependable, observant, and proactive—someone who supports the maintenance function by catching issues early and keeping systems running smoothly.
Lyndon Fish Hatcheries is a family-owned, industry-leading aquaculture operation supplying rainbow trout eyed eggs and fingerlings across Ontario and all provinces in Canada. We grow fish at all stages of the life cycle, from eggs to breeding stock.
We also operate a seasonal recreational Fishing Pond and have a sister company that hauls live fish to our customers throughout Canada.
AZ Fish Hauling: $40-45/hr
We deliver to farms in northern Ontario, Saskatchewan, Quebec and Nova Scotia. Our peak shipping season is April 30-June 15 and Sept 30-Nov 30. During this time long hours are to be expected and team driving during longer runs will be required. We run well maintained pre-emission equipment and paper logs. This position will require mechanical capabilities as well as an AZ license with experience in hauling liquids and pulling B trains. Reliability and consistency in availability is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the maintenance manager in planning, prioritizing, and executing maintenance activities.
- Lead by example through hands-on maintenance work across facilities and equipment
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and infrastructure issues
- Help coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure safe installation, maintenance, and operation of machinery and support structures
- Communicate maintenance needs, issues, and solutions clearly with leadership and team members
- Occasionally assist with fish care and husbandry (egg/fry care, grading, vaccinating, loading)
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5+ years of experience in maintenance, trades, or agricultural operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with engines and farm equipment.
- Proficient in general plumbing, electrical and carpentry.
- Welding experience is an asset.
- Experience operating agricultural equipment including tractors, pulling trailers, and power tools safely.
- Comfortable mentoring others and taking initiative without constant supervision.
- AZ license is an asset (not required).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Combination of indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 30 kg (66 lbs).
- Fast-paced, seasonal workload with longer hours during peak shipping periods.
- Early morning, evening, and occasional weekend work during busy seasons.
Schedule & Compensation
- Typical hours: 8:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday.
- Busy seasons (April–June, September-November): up to 50–60 hours/week.
- Overtime paid at time-and-a-half outside standard hours for the technician role.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license, clean driver’s abstract, and own transportation
- Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, numeracy)
- Basic knowledge of Google Drive suite
