Job Summary
Lettuce Love Café is an established, fast-paced, plant-based restaurant in Burlington, preparing fresh food from scratch every day. We are looking for an experienced Prep & Production Cook to join our kitchen team.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of professional kitchen experience who has a strong understanding of cooking techniques, food production, organization, and consistency.
This is a key role in our kitchen. You will be responsible for preparing many of the fresh menu items served throughout the day. We need someone who can work independently, stay organized, follow recipes accurately, and take pride in producing high-quality food every day.
Responsibilities
- Prepare soups, sauces, grains, legumes, proteins, and other menu items from scratch
- Complete daily production lists efficiently while maintaining quality and consistency
- Follow recipes accurately and maintain portion standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation
- Rotate and label products while following food safety standards
- Assist with inventory, stock rotation, and kitchen organization
- Support the kitchen team during service when required
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of professional kitchen experience
- Strong knife skills
- Solid understanding of cooking techniques and food preparation
- Experience with batch cooking and maintaining consistency
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Reliable, punctual, and takes initiative
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Food Handler Certification (preferred)
Hours
- Approximately 30–35 hours per week
- Typical shift is 8:30 a.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m. or later, depending on production needs
- Weekday and weekend availability required
Compensation
- $19.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experience
