Summary
NB Benny’s Contracting Ltd. is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a wide range of projects, including concrete, asphalt, earthworks, landscaping, hardscaping, and site development. The successful candidate will work closely with management, project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are accurately priced and positioned for success.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate project estimates.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for concrete, asphalt, earthworks, landscaping, hardscaping, and related scopes of work.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and proposals.
- Identify project risks and opportunities during the estimating process.
- Assist in developing project schedules and work plans.
- Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
- Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure smooth project handover.
- Maintain and update estimating databases, unit costs, and supplier pricing.
- Track awarded and completed projects to improve estimating accuracy.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assist with tender submissions and contract documentation.
- Provide support with change orders, cost tracking, and project forecasting when required.
- Ensure estimates comply with company standards and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in construction.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Concrete construction
- Asphalt paving
- Site development and earthworks
- Landscaping and hardscaping
- Civil construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Clean 3-year driver's abstract.
Preferred Assets
- Experience with estimating software such as ProCore.
- Knowledge of municipal and commercial tendering processes.
- Project management experience.
- Beneficial: Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Beneficial: Gold Seal Certification or related industry certifications.

Pay: $35.00-$38.00 per hour
