As a Labourer II, you will perform the following tasks:
- Assist in the delivery of various capital work that relates to furniture refurbishment/construction, repair and equipment installation
- Construction and repair of parkland assets such as; park furniture (tables and benches, picnic stoves, and other various utility work)
- Other work as required such as; construction and repair of playground features such as; playground apparatus, surfaces, wood and concrete structures
- Park servicing tasks such as; use of a pressure washer, garbage removal and sanitation duties
- Operate and being responsible for the minor maintenance of one or more of the following types of equipment: various sizes in trucks, front end loader, water pumps, generators and varied power/hand tools
- Maintain simple records
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Completion of the 10th grade
- Minimum 1 year of related experience in parks operations
Assets:
- Experience operating equipment such as; utility vehicles, tractors, sweepers, skid steers, lanyard training or other related equipment of similar size and complexity
- WHMIS 2015 Certification
- Standard First Aid Certificate
- Ability to read construction drawings
- Experience with Knuckleboom/Crane truck
Skills required for success:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Some knowledge of safety precautions and hazards involved with parks maintenance
- Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards involved in the assigned work
- Ability to use the necessary hand and power tools for work assignments
- Ability to communicate effectively with citizens, team, and internal/external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a productive and efficient team
- Ability to adapt to change and modify priorities to overcome obstacles

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
Work Environment:
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform manual labour for extended periods of time under various weather conditions
- Shifts may include evening and weekend work
- Shifts up to 10 hours in length
