JOB DUTIES - General
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes & skid steers, in accordance with safe practices and procedures
- Perform daily pre-use inspections and maintenance checks on equipment and report any defects or repairs
- Follow proper start-up and shutdown procedures
- Collaborate with ground personnel and other operators to ensure safe and efficient task completion
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings and complete role specific training.
- Assist in site preparation, including clearing, excavation, grading, and back-filling as per project needs.
JOB DUTIES - Specific
- Operate with precision, efficiency, and safety around utilities (underground/overhead) and in tight residential areas - total site awareness and worker/public safety
- Place cages/manhole barrels, etc in/out of trenches and move road plates, equipment and other supplies safely in a timely manner
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and simple repairs on equipment.
- Understand load stability and limitations of machine.
- Understand site layout, grading plans, and excavation requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37.00-$42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 50 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Lower Mainland, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:
- excavator/backhoe: 5 years (required)
- civil/utilities: 4 years (required)
