The Opportunity
As a Veterinarian, you will primarily be responsible for performing routine canine and feline spay and neuter surgeries. You will work closely with our experienced veterinary technicians and assistants throughout the surgical day, with dedicated support to help maintain an efficient workflow and ensure a high standard of patient care. Scheduling can be flexible, with opportunities available based on your availability and the needs of the clinic.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine canine and feline spay and neuter surgeries
- Conduct pre-operative patient assessments and examinations
- Oversee patient care throughout the surgical process
- Provide guidance and support to the veterinary team regarding patient care and treatment plans
- Complete medical records and surgical documentation
- Communicate with clinic staff regarding
- any patient concerns or complications
- Maintain a high standard of patient care, safety, and welfare
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a veterinarian with a solid foundation in routine surgery who is comfortable working independently and enjoys being part of a collaborative team.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree and be licensed in Ontario
- Have 2 years of experience performing routine canine and feline spay and neuter
- procedures in a general practice setting or similar environment
- Be confident and comfortable performing surgery independently
- Have high-volume spay/neuter surgical experience — strongly preferred, but not required
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Work efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and quality of care
- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
- Bring a positive and collaborative approach to working with veterinary technicians and support staff
You don't necessarily need years of high-volume surgical experience, but you do need to be comfortable and confident performing routine spay and neuter procedures.
Compensation That Reflects Your Surgical Skills
Compensation will be based on your experience, surgical proficiency, and the number of procedures you are able to safely and efficiently perform during a surgical day. We recognize that every veterinarian brings a different level of experience and works at a different pace. Compensation can reflect your surgical proficiency, efficiency, and ability to safely complete procedures during the day.
As your comfort and efficiency in a high-volume surgical environment grow, compensation can be adjusted to reflect increased productivity and proficiency. The goal isn't simply to move through as many procedures as possible — it's to find the right balance between efficiency, confidence, and excellent patient care. Patient safety and quality of care will always remain the priority.
