About the Program
The Accounting and Bookkeeping Certificate (ABC) program trains students to maintain a complete set of books, record financial transactions, manage accounts, and gain proficiency in essential software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Sage Accounting, QuickBooks, and Canadian Payroll systems. Students develop the technical and professional skills required for roles such as Bookkeeper, Accounting Technician, Payroll Clerk, or Finance Officer.
Responsibilities
- Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) effectively to enhance student learning.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices and share resources.
- Stay current with educational trends and integrate innovative teaching methods.
- Conduct research to support course development and enhance academic offerings
- Deliver engaging and structured instruction in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accounting-related courses, including:
- Knowledge of Accounting Fundamentals, QuickBooks (Core and Advanced), Sage Accounting (Core and Advanced), Canadian Payroll
- Utilize diverse instructional methods, including lectures, demonstrations, simulations, and case studies.
- Provide support and guidance to students in both online and on-campus environments.
- Evaluate student progress through assignments, quizzes, and exams, ensuring timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student communications.
- Contribute to curriculum enhancement and continuous program improvement.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting & 2 years of Accounting & Bookkeeping, or 10 years of experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage Accounting, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Teaching or training experience (post-secondary or adult education preferred).
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Instructor experience with online and asynchronous learning platforms.
- Familiarity with Canadian Payroll standards and procedures.
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Potential: Opportunity to move into a full-time instructional role
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
