The Cost Accountant is responsible for performing job cost analyses to ensure the integrity of costing, transaction, traceability, inventory valuation and allocation accuracy and make recommendations based on findings. The position is also responsible for invoicing, inventory reconciliation, overhead rate maintenance, and other related duties as required.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Complete Job Cost Analysis (JCAs), ensuring all costs are accounted for per the Bill of Materials (BOM) to measure the Contribution and Gross Margins against plan and invoice the customer as required. Report out variances to the plan as required providing an analysis to the production and supply chain to ensure corrective action can be taken if necessary.
- Validate and track internal costing for made in house parts, ensuring estimates on labour and overall costing methodologies to ensure valuation is accurate.
- Validate and review shop supplies and consumables used within production.
- Recommend and identify potential opportunities for allocation and costing alignment between Engineering, Production Planning and Supply Chain.
- Establish and standardize costing and allocation reports and other related reports as directed.
- Identify and ensure that material which has been dispositioned is evacuated from inventory in the appropriate manner as identified.
- Complete monthly inventory reconciliations.
- Audit and maintain overhead rates.
- Perform quoting activities when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis in a manufacturing or relatable operational setting
- Direct working knowledge of manufacturing operations, supply chain and accounting functions and practices.
- Experience using a corporate ERP systems and skills in analyzing large sets of data.
- Minimum of intermediate proficiency with SQL Query development using Excel and intermediate proficiency with Power BI
