Overview
We are seeking a reliable and professional Courier Driver to join our logistics team. This role involves delivering freight and packages efficiently and safely to various destinations, ensuring customer satisfaction and timely service. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of responsibility, excellent driving skills, and the ability to operate heavy equipment when necessary. Duties
- Safely operate delivery vehicles, including commercial trucks and vans, to transport freight and packages to designated locations.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or hand trucks, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS or maps, adhering to traffic laws and delivery schedules.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery times or issues.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation for all shipments.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance or repairs as needed, including basic automotive repairs.
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts when required for loading or unloading freight.
- Ensure the security of freight during transit and at delivery points.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driving license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts or other industrial machinery is a plus.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols.
- Ability to operate basic automotive repair tools for minor vehicle maintenance.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adhere to schedules.
- Physical ability to lift heavy freight, operate heavy equipment, and perform manual tasks as required.
This role is vital in ensuring the smooth flow of goods from our facilities to our customers, requiring professionalism, safety awareness, and operational expertise at all times.
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Dartmouth, NS (B3B): reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
