Our interpretive guides and snowshoe trails operations team aim to deliver an outstanding guest experience for snowshoers at Sun Peaks Resort. We offer guided interpretive snowshoe tours, delivering interactive outdoor education programs, and offer self guided options for guests to explore the snowshoe trail system with snowshoe rentals or with their own snowshoes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Guide daytime and evening snowshoe tours ranging from 2-3 hours in duration, on the Sun Peaks Resort snowshoe trails and on Tod Mountain.
- Deliver an outstanding guest experience through meaningful, enthusiastic, and enjoyable interpretive tours.
- Guide educational snowshoe tours for school and university groups.
- Prepare hot apple cider and refreshments for each tour.
- Greet and answer visitors’ questions and assist them as required.
- General maintenance of the snowshoe trails and the Snowshoe camp and its surroundings.
- Work with our team to ensure successful snowshoe operations.
- Promote snowshoe programs throughout the resort.
- Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Interpreter and Guide/ Trail Operations:
- Previous interpretive guiding experience is preferred.
- Previous experience snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are an asset.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to organize and maintain control over large groups.
- Experience leading tours with all age groups including adults, school children from grades K-12 and University students is considered an asset.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work with a team as well as independently.
- Must be outgoing and enjoy meeting new people.
- Able to interact with guests, fellow staff, and resort partners sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Fluency or working knowledge of other languages is considered an asset.
- Education, training and experience in guiding, education and the environment are an asset.
- Outdoor education experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Sun Peaks snowshoe trail network.
- Knowledge of trail maintenance practices and asset.
- Must be physically active and able to carry heavy backpacks and other trail equipment.
- Must have completed the minimum of WSBC Basic First Aid level 1 ( Previously OFA 1) and CPR A & C certification.
