ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge)
- Current Certification of Competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the Ontario College of Nurses required.
- Current BCLS certification required
- 2 years hospital nursing experience on a Surgical, Post Partum & Paediatric unit.
- Current certificate in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
- Completion of breastfeeding education course.
- Perinatal Education course preferred.
-Computer Skills - Intranet, Microsoft Office, Cerner, RL6, required
- Practice level consistent with the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario, which includes but is not limited to:
- Evidence of the successful completion and/or practice in processing physician orders, venipuncture and IV management, administration and management of blood & blood products, administration of oral, subcutaneous, IM, suppository, aerosol and IV medications, and management of patients with epimorph for pain control
- Member of RPNAO preferred
- As part of the candidate assessment process, applicants may be required to complete a written and oral examination and provide a record of educational activities (including e-learning report) over the last 2 years during interview
