The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club (“the Club”) is one of the city’s most prestigious private Racquets Club. Located just a few minutes from downtown, the Club offers exceptional tennis, badminton, squash, fitness and aquatics programming for over 4,000 members, along with a variety of social events with upscale-casual dining in 3 restaurants.
The Club is currently seeking a Part-time Racquet Stringer to join our team. The successful candidate will be able to start work ASAP.
OVERVIEW:
The Sport Shop caters to members and guests including tennis, badminton, squash, aquatics, and fitness enthusiasts.
This is a part-time position with weekly shift of Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 10:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m. Additional week-day shifts may be requested depending on business levels. Assisting the Athletics Director with inventory, special events, and other month end duties or to cover vacation may be available.
Reports to: The Athletics Director.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stringing a large volume of tennis, badminton, and squash racquets.
- Answering member questions about sports products (primarily tennis-related), and helping them select the best product for their needs.
- Maintaining accurate records of stringing details and products used.
- Phone and email correspondence as required to determine the best stringing products. .
- Perform other shop-related tasks as set out by the Athletics Director.
- Various business administrative tasks related to racquet stringing.
- Assisting with Events and Tournaments as needed.
- Other administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications/Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in racquet stringing (primarily tennis)
- A strong tennis background with knowledge of various products and product lines. Knowledge in squash and badminton is an asset.
- Experience in a retail environment.
- Above average customer service and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to be pro-active and self-motivated.
- Experience working independently and with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with basic computer programs, including MS Office and point of sale systems.
- Professional, friendly, positive attitude.

Rate of Pay: $23 - $25 per hour with additional per racquet commission after successful completion of the probationary period.
Staff members are not permitted to use the club facilities, and no benefits are included with this part-time position.
