Full-Time Seamstress / Tailor:Sewing, Alterations, Cutting & Production Support:
Anne Mulaire is a locally owned Winnipeg fashion brand and manufacturer specializing in high-quality, sustainable clothing. We create eco-conscious garments using ethical practices and serve customers across Manitoba, Canada, and the U.S.
We are looking for a full-time experienced sewer to join our production team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys garment construction, has strong attention to detail, and is open to working across different areas of production, including sewing, alterations, cutting, finishing, and other garment-related tasks.
About the Role:
This position is ideal for someone with experience in sewing, tailoring, alterations, or apparel production who enjoys variety in their workday. Sewing and alterations will be the main focus of the role, but we are especially interested in someone who is open to being cross-trained in other production areas, including industrial cutting, fabric preparation, finishing, and direct-to-garment printing.
The right person will be skilled, reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a small production environment where quality, teamwork, and adaptability matter. Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:You may be involved in:
- Sewing bamboo and cotton jersey garments, including jackets, dresses, tops, leggings, pants, and accessories
- Operating industrial sewing machines such as single needle, serger, mini-serger, cover-stitch, binding machines, and related equipment
- Assembling pre-cut fabric pieces, including pockets, flaps, binding, piping, hoods, sleeves, waistbands, and linings
- Performing garment alterations, repairs, adjustments, and finishing work as needed
- Inspecting fabric pieces and finished garments to ensure quality standards are met
- Supporting industrical and hand cutting, fabric preparation, bundling, trimming, pressing, or labeling, if trained
- Assisting with direct-to-garment printing or other garment decoration/print production tasks, if trained
- Assisting with fit adjustments, pattern modifications, or production problem-solving when appropriate
- Working with the production team to meet quality and workflow goals
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Following health, safety, and company policies
- Helping with other production tasks as needed
What We’re Looking For:The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience as a sewer, seamstress, tailor, sewist, or sewing machine operator
- Experience with alterations, garment repairs, or custom adjustments
- Hands-on experience using industrial sewing machines
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and finishing techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in quality craftsmanship
- Ability to work with stretch fabrics such as bamboo, cotton jersey, or knits
- A genuine interest in cross-training beyond sewing, especially in industrial cutting, fabric preparation, production support, and/or direct-to-garment printing
- Strong English skills to understand production instructions, communicate with the team, and ask questions when needed
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong attendance record
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn Anne Mulaire’s production methods
Strong Assets:
These are not required, but any of these would be considered an asset:
- Apparel manufacturing experience
- Tailoring or dressmaking experience
- Experience with pattern adjustments, resizing, grading, or fit corrections
- Experience with industrial cutting, cutting-room workflow, fabric layout, or fabric spreading
- Interest or experience in direct-to-garment printing, garment decoration, or print production
- Experience working with sustainable fabrics or stretch fabrics
- Ability to read patterns, markers, or production instructions
Schedule:
This is a full-time position based in Winnipeg.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
