Join our Purser Staff aboard the historic Muskoka Steamships and sail the beautiful Muskoka Lakes while providing world class service to our guests. If you’re passionate about culinary arts, love travel, and want to create memories that last a lifetime, then this is the job for you.
As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in food preparation and service aboard our ships. In this fast-paced, dynamic environment, you will prepare rotating menus, support private events with a variety of tasks, and ensure the safety and satisfaction of our passengers.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle various different menus and prepare dishes per company standard.
- Receive, stock, and rotate food and supply inventory.
- Ensure all dishes are washed and cleaned thoroughly.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Be aware of passengers dietary and medical needs.
- Report immediately to the Purser in the event of any issues/emergencies onboard.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your workspace.
- Work with the galley team to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Keep a positive attitude with co-workers and passengers.
- Ensure guest and crew safety by following onboard safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist with seasonal preparation and shutdown of the vessels.
Qualifications
- Food Handler Certification (or willing to obtain)
- Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C (offered).
- Must be at least sixteen years of age.
- Strong communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physically able to provide care during emergency situations onboard.
- Physically able to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects.
- Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
