Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Assistant will support the on-duty Pharmacist with the operations of the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Assistant will assist with the preparation, packaging and organization of medication deliveries, while supporting daily operations in accordance with all standards and procedures. The position offers a healthy work-life balance with predictable hours.
Note: This is a part-time/casual position.
TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pharmacy Operations and Customer Service
- Assist pharmacist in preparing, processing, and filling prescriptions using Fillware pharmacy software. Ensure proper labeling and packaging as required.
- Maintain accurate medication records including patient profiles and medication histories; process refills and third-party adjudications.
- Support inventory management tasks, including restocking medications and supplies.
- Process insurance claims and handle billing procedures.
- Receive, stock, organize, and maintain inventory; manage returns of expired products.
- Prepare and ensure timely delivery of prescriptions and labels to care facilities and retirement homes.
- Respond to inquiries and phone calls from customers and healthcare providers; direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Maintain a clean pharmacy environment and organized work area.
- Manage supplies as needed and perform other related administrative duties to support the pharmacy team.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2-3 years experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or related role
- Strong attention to detail experience in handling medications
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
- Working knowledge of Fillware pharmacy system is an asset
- Proficient with MS Office, Google Suite
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities
- Understanding of patient care and customer service principles with a strong commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
