We are seeking a diligent, safety-conscious, and customer-oriented Yard Person to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of our yard operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for loading and unloading materials, serving customers, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the yard remains clean and organized. Familiarity with equipment operation and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential. Bilingual (French and English) would be an asset.
Yard Associate Position
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials using equipment such as forklifts.
- Ensure all safety precautions are taken when handling freight, tools, and equipment.
- Store materials in their correct locations within the yard.
- Assist customers by providing information and help in gathering and loading orders.
- Maintain a clean yard and orderly inventory.
- Be knowledgeable about the inventory, equipment locations, and safe operation and maintenance of yard equipment.
- Assist customers with large or heavy items and resolve any complaints.
- Monitor the yard for theft and report or discourage any incidents according to company policy.
- Restock depleted bins, sheds, etc.
- Handle returned goods.
- Receive and check incoming merchandise against orders or invoices.
- Report any discrepancies such as shortages or damaged goods to the supervisor.
- Assist in training new employees and work on special projects as assigned.
- Comply with provincial and federal safety legislation, reporting potential hazards.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Flexible schedule availability, including Saturday.
- Effective communication skills with customers, management, and fellow employees.
- Ability to comprehend written materials, numerical data, and operate yard equipment safely.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work co-operatively.
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and radial arm saw, etc.
- Bilingual

Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
