Applications are now being accepted for the above position. The successful applicant will perform the duties of the
Equipment Supervisor for the City of North Battleford and report to the Fleet and Maintenance Manager

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Schedules work for all mechanics, approves vacations and monitors staff daily operations of fleet services
  • Responsible for the administration and documentation of the City’s equipment and vehicle repair and preventative maintenance

  • Maintain comprehensive records for each piece of equipment with respect to down time, mechanical malfunctions, preventative
maintenance tasks and repairs necessary.

  • Assembles reports on the suitability, reliability availability and operating costs on equipment with recommendations on equipment
replacement, retirement and acquisition.

  • Ensures all City equipment and vehicles are maintained and adhere to departmental standards and all safety regulations.
  • Oversee and administer the equipment work order system and related software.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff in the coordination of work efforts.
  • Provide input to the annual operational and capital budget process based on inspections, equipment and vehicle life expectancy, and
asset protection principles for short and long term planning.

  • Performance management and evaluation of staff, including involvement with the disciplinary process when necessary.
  • Investigates, plan, and implement cost saving initiatives in fleet services. In some cases, this will require long term planning and
budget considerations.

  • Be a leader of all operating procedures, safe work practices and all occupational health and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure workers have and maintain proper training for assigned work tasks.
  • Coordinate and maintain all documentation regarding staff training, supervision of tasks, toolbox meetings, pre-job hazard
assessments, timesheet completion, overtime approval, etc.

  • Provide support as required and requested to all other departments of the City. Coordinate and schedule repairs and preventative
maintenance tasks with other departments.

  • Plan and implement changes in fleet service work procedures and processes to create departmental efficiencies and a culture of
constant improvement.

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in a related field or a combination of experience and training that is equivalent and satisfactory to
the employer.

  • Demonstrated three to five years’ effective experience in a leadership role directly managing team activity.
  • Possess and maintain a Class 5 Driver’s License, Class 3, or Class 1A Driver’s License an asset
  • Must obtain a vulnerable sector criminal record check
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, First Aid/CPR certification, Powered Mobile Equipment Evaluator training, WHIMIS, BMS system
training, and any other training deemed necessary by the City including train the trainer where available.

  • Formal education and/or demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Mechanical and/or work experience as a journeyman mechanic is an asset
  • Highly proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as email, calendar, excel spreadsheet creation and maintenance.
Salary Range: $72,745- $90,586

Special Provision:
Must live in or be willing to re-locate to the City of North Battleford or its direct trading area (within 30 minutes’ travel time of
the Battleford area)
