Job Summary
The Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI), through its leadership of the Transforming Climate Action (TCA) program and collaboration with partner institutions including Memorial University, Université Laval, and Université du Québec à Rimouski, supports community-driven research and climate adaptation initiatives across Atlantic Canada, Arctic, and Eastern Quebec. Reporting to the Scientific Director, the Program Coordinator, Community Driven Research will provide leadership and coordination for critical community-engaged and community driven research programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for community organizations, researchers, and institutional partners, supporting the development, delivery, monitoring, and reporting of community-focused funding initiatives.
- Coordinate funding calls, review processes, adjudication committees, and award administration. Provide guidance and support to applicants throughout proposal development and submission processes.
- Identify opportunities to leverage program investments through additional funding sources, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives.
- Organize workshops, webinars, meetings, community gatherings, and knowledge-sharing events. Support dissemination of project outcomes through reports, presentations, case studies, and other communication products.
- Track and evaluate program outcomes and impacts using qualitative and quantitative measures. Identify emerging opportunities, priorities, and gaps related to community-led research and climate adaptation.
- Prepare briefing materials and recommendations for senior leadership and funding partners.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in environmental policy, Indigenous Studies, or a related discipline plus approximately three to five years’ relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Demonstrated experience managing grants, funding programs, research programs, community initiatives, or multi-partner projects, as well as working with community organizations, and diverse partners.
- Strong project management, organizational and administrative skills, including experience organizing meetings, workshops, and collaborative engagement processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, facilitation, and presentation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities with strict deadlines and high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and reconciliation.
