Overview
We are hiring a Red Seal Automotive Journey Mechanic to support a busy fleet service operation and select customer vehicle repairs. This is a fast-paced role for a professional who can diagnose accurately, repair efficiently, and take ownership of their work. If you are reliable, organized, safety-focused, and take pride in keeping vehicles on the road, we want to hear from you
This role is ideal for a mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship, can diagnose and repair vehicles efficiently, and is comfortable working in a high-volume environment where priorities can shift quickly. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing and repairing a mix of company fleet vehicles and select client vehicles while maintaining strong standards for safety, accuracy, communication, and turnaround time.
We are not looking for someone who simply changes parts. We are looking for a technician who can troubleshoot, think critically, take ownership of their work, and help keep vehicles on the road.
Key Responsibilities
The Red Seal Automotive Journey Mechanic will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, drivetrain, brake, suspension, steering, and engine-related issues.
- Performing repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and customer vehicles.
- Completing inspections and identifying required repairs in a clear and accurate manner.
- Using diagnostic tools, scan tools, technical manuals, and service information to properly assess vehicle concerns.
- Performing maintenance services including oil changes, brake repairs, tire repairs, fluid services, suspension repairs, engine repairs, and general vehicle servicing.
- Ensuring repairs are completed correctly, safely, and efficiently.
- Documenting all work performed, parts used, recommendations, and repair findings.
- Communicating repair requirements clearly with supervisors, service advisors, parts staff, and other team members.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Supporting urgent repairs when fleet vehicles need to be returned to service quickly.
- Following company safety procedures and industry best practices at all times.
- Assisting with quality control checks to ensure completed repairs meet company standards.
- Helping identify opportunities to improve shop efficiency, repair processes, and vehicle reliability.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Journeyperson Automotive Mechanic certification, Red Seal preferred.
- Strong experience diagnosing and repairing light-duty vehicles, fleet vehicles, or commercial service vehicles.

- Experience using scan tools, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple repair demands.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean or acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Ability to lift, bend, stand, and work physically throughout the day.
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
Preferred Experience
The following would be considered an asset:
- Previous fleet maintenance experience.
- Dealership experience.
- Experience working on light-duty trucks, vans, service vehicles, or mixed fleet vehicles.
- Experience with maintenance tracking systems or digital work orders.
- Air conditioning, electrical diagnostics, or diesel experience.
- Commercial vehicle inspection experience, depending on business needs.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and shows up ready to work.
- Able to work with urgency without cutting corners.
- Accountable for the quality of their repairs.
- Comfortable in a busy shop with changing priorities.
- Professional when dealing with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.
- Safety-minded and organized.
- Willing to help the team instead of saying, “That’s not my job.”
- Capable of working independently but also able to collaborate when needed.
- Interested in long-term employment with a company that values strong technicians.
Work Environment
This is a busy, hands-on shop environment. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a high-paced operation where vehicle downtime matters.
