Medical Secretary — Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (Hybrid)
Location: Hybrid — Toronto-area (partly in-person, partly remote)

About the Role
A Toronto-based plastic and reconstructive surgeon affiliated with Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is seeking a Medical Secretary to support a growing surgical practice. This is a hybrid position, combining in-person and remote work, ideal for someone highly organized, dynamic, and comfortable managing a busy clinical schedule across hospital and clinic settings. Responsibilities
- Manage physician's calendar, including OR bookings, clinic appointments, and consultations
- Handle incoming calls, faxes, and emails from patients, referring physicians, and hospital staff with professionalism and warmth
- Coordinate patient scheduling, follow-ups, and pre-/post-operative communications
- Coordinate and organize patient flow between hospital and private office settings, directing patients and referrals to the right location
- Prepare and organize referral letters, correspondence, and invoices
- Liaise with SHN administrative staff regarding OR scheduling and hospital requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with PHIPA
- Assist with basic billing/OHIP submission support as needed
- Manage document flow and filing using EMR/practice management software
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a medical secretary, administrative assistant, or similar role (healthcare setting preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for patient care and customer service
- Experience with Epic and/or Accuro EMR systems an asset
- Fluency in additional languages an asset
- Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly surgical/plastic surgery an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
- Reliable internet connection and quiet home workspace (for remote days)
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
