What you will be doing!
- Monitoring and reporting radiation protection (RP) performance.
- Preparing radiological safe work documents for specific radiological-related facility, decommissioning and waste management work packages.
- Responding to radiation and contamination exposure incidents and events.
- Conducting RP training.
- Providing direction and oversight of the purchase, calibration and maintenance of RP instrumentation for radiation protection, characterization, or clearance.
- Conducting RP compliance inspections of nuclear facilities, radioactive material areas and decommissioning areas.
- Providing direction and oversight for the selection and use of Contamination fixatives and decontamination methods.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
Education -
- University graduation in science or applied science or equivalent experience resulting in a sound knowledge of some scientific discipline and a few years related scientific working experience OR a PhD in science.
- BSc or MSc in Physics, Health Physics, Radiation Protection, Medical Physics and/or Engineering Physics preferred.
Experience -
- Five years’ plus experience in the discipline of physics, health physics, medical physics and/or engineering physics.
- Experience identifying and assessing radiological hazards across diverse work activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -
- Proven ability to quickly learn complex processes and integrate knowledge from subject matter experts.
- Ability to establish priorities and achieve goals and objectives in a work environment with varied and sometimes conflicting demands.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions -
- We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- This position is part of the WPEG Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the WPEG Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
Please note: This is a fully onsite position based at our Whiteshell site in Pinawa, Manitoba.
Pay: From $97,300.00 per year
