The Opportunity:
The role of the database administrator is to be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of core SQL databases. The successful applicant will be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. They will take ownership of multiple test, development and production environments and be responsible for the maintenance of these environments to ensure all databases and servers are performing optimally.
How you will contribute:
- Monitor, collect statistical information and provide reporting on capacity and system performance
- Based on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance
- Create, Modify, and Run stored procedures
- Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts
- Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting the installation, configuration, or data problems)
- Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade, and patching
- Perform and manage system and database backups
- Perform manual switch to redundant system/database components, in case of system failure
- Manage SQL replication
- Create and maintain maintenance plans, performance tuning, advise programmers on improving schemas
- Create and maintain documentation relating to all database procedures and actions
- Proactively monitor 24/7 mission critical servers
The experience you need:
- SQL Server 2016, 2019 database administration tasks
- Command level experience with SQL Server 2016, 2019
- Experience with SQL Server 2016, 2019 Management Studio
- Configure and maintain databases on Azure platform (SQL MI, IaaS VM)
- SQL Server HA (high availability)
- SQL Transparent Database Encryption
- SQL Server Replication
- SQL Server Database Mirroring
- New database installations
- Database monitoring performance tuning
- Backups and recovery
- Server and database security
- Index management and optimization
- Experience in developing functions and stored procedures
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Experienced in the Financial Industry
- Keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong customer service orientation.

- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Education and Certification
- Completion of a College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science.
- 3+ Years of experience as a DBA
