General Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and experienced AZ Driver to support the safe and timely transportation of fresh produce. This part-time position is well suited to a professional driver who understands the importance of food safety, product quality, delivery accuracy, and maintaining temperature-sensitive loads.
This role will be scheduled for evenings and weekends and offers a competitive wage starting at $27/hr.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate AZ commercial vehicles to transport fresh produce.
- Complete scheduled pickups and deliveries to customers, warehouses, grocery stores, distribution centres, and other locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report vehicle defects or maintenance concerns.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload produce while minimizing damage.
- Verify products, quantities, invoices, bills of lading, and other delivery documentation.
- Monitor and maintain refrigeration and temperature requirements throughout transportation.
- Report temperature deviations, delays, damaged products, and delivery concerns promptly.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules while complying with hours-of-service requirements.
- Provide courteous and professional service at pickup and delivery locations.
- Assist with unloading and handling produce when required.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, delivery records, and other required documentation.
- Keep the truck and trailer clean and in good operating condition.
- Follow all applicable transportation, food-safety, workplace-safety, and company requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delivery status and operational concerns.
Qualifications:
- Valid Ontario AZ Driver’s Licence with a clean or acceptable driving record.
- Previous commercial driving experience.
- Knowledge of hours-of-service regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
- Produce, food distribution, grocery delivery, or refrigerated transportation experience is an asset.
- Experience operating refrigerated or reefer trailers is an asset.
- Ability to complete required paperwork and use electronic logging or delivery systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer-service skills.
- Dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and able to work independently.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends, including holidays when required.
- Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull produce cases and pallets.
- Ability to safely climb in and out of trucks and trailers.
- Ability to work in refrigerated areas and environments with varying temperatures.
- Ability to remain alert and focused during extended periods of driving.
