ABOUT BIG MOUSTACHE BARBERSHOP
Big Moustache is a HRM’s go-to destination for premium cuts, beard grooming, and a great client experience. We take pride in our craft, our culture, and the way we make every person who walks through our door feel welcome. We’re looking for a front desk superstar to be the face of our shop — someone who loves people, stays organized under pressure, and takes real pride in delivering outstanding service.
THE ROLE
As our Front Desk Receptionist, you’re the first and last impression every client has of Big Moustache. You’ll manage appointments and walk-ins, handle payments, support the barbers, and keep the shop running smoothly from open to close. You’ll also have the opportunity to earn 10% commission on every retail product sale you process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Experience
- Greet every client warmly and professionally from the moment they walk in
- Check in booked clients and manage walk-ins using Fresha
- Communicate wait times clearly and update clients proactively
- Offer refreshments and ensure the waiting area is welcoming
- Ask satisfied clients to leave Google reviews and rebook their next appointment
Bookings & Scheduling
- Manage all appointments, reschedules, and cancellations in Fresha
- Answer phone calls and respond to booking messages promptly
- Coordinate the daily schedule between front desk and barbers
- Flag scheduling conflicts and communicate changes to the team
Payments & Retail
- Process all payments accurately through the Fresha POS system
- Issue receipts and maintain a tidy, accurate till
- Recommend and sell retail products (pomades, beard oils, aftershave, etc.)
- Log all retail sales in Fresha to track your 10% commission earnings
Shop Operations
- Open and close the shop following the daily checklist
- Maintain cleanliness of the front desk, waiting area, and retail display
- Restock supplies and retail products as needed
- Complete the daily Fresha sales and commission report at closing
- Report client feedback and any operational issues to the manager
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-haves
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — you’re a natural people person
- Highly organised with the ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Reliable, punctual, and takes real ownership of their role
- Comfortable with booking and point-of-sale software (Fresha experience a plus — training provided)
- Professional appearance and a positive, can-do attitude
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a barbershop, salon, or hospitality front desk role
- Experience with Fresha or similar appointment scheduling software
- Passion for the barbering / grooming industry
