What You’ll Do

Operate system components and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Respond to service disruptions and complete emergency repairs safely and efficiently.

Inspect, maintain, and repair hydrants, valves, watermains, and related infrastructure.

Layout, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems, fixtures, and equipment.

Collect samples and conduct routine field and laboratory testing (e.g., pressure testing, valve inspections).

Monitor system performance and report defective or inoperable infrastructure.
What You Bring (Depending on Role)

Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12).

Operator in Training (OIT) certification, with the ability to obtain Water Distribution Level 1 and Wastewater Collection Level 1 certification within 18 months.

Experience in water/wastewater operations (minimum one year for operator level; less experience considered an asset for entry levels).

Knowledge of the Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act.

Ability to perform physically demanding work and operate equipment safely.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, the public and external partners.

Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Valid Ontario Class G licence with an acceptable driving record.

Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s licence (or ability to obtain, depending on role) with an acceptable driving record.

Distribution/Collection Relief Operator - $30.92 to $35.45 per hour

Distribution and Collection Operator B - $31.73 to $36.27 per hour

Distribution and Collection Operator A (Lead Hand) - $34.75 to $39.30 per hour

Distribution and Collection Operator A (Trouble Investigator) - $35.32 to $39.86 per hour
