Position Summary
Millennium Mechanical Contracting is seeking experienced and safety-conscious Pipefitters to support mining, construction, maintenance, shutdown, and project activities within gold and nickel mining operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, repair, testing, and maintenance of piping systems utilized in process plants, underground operations, shaft facilities, dewatering systems, compressed air systems, and industrial infrastructure.
This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and the ability to work effectively in challenging mining environments.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, modify, and repair piping systems and associated equipment.
- Read and interpret piping drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and engineering specifications.
- Fabricate and install carbon steel, stainless steel, HDPE, PVC, and specialty piping systems.
- Perform pipe fitting, threading, grooving, flanging, welding preparation, and assembly.
- Install and maintain valves, pumps, strainers, flow meters, regulators, and process equipment.
- Support underground and surface dewatering installations and repairs.
- Assist with compressed air, water, process slurry, paste backfill, and ventilation piping systems.
- Conduct hydrostatic and pressure testing of piping systems.
- Perform inspections and identify deficiencies requiring corrective action.
- Support shutdowns, capital projects, and emergency repairs.
- Complete maintenance documentation and field reports accurately.
- Participate in safety meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain safe and organized.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Pipefitter Certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial, mining, construction, or mechanical experience.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and piping drawings.
- Strong understanding of piping systems, valves, pumps, and process equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Mining Experience
- Process plant piping systems
- CIP/CIL circuits
- Slurry and reagent piping
- Process water distribution systems
- Tailings and thickener piping
- Pump stations and process equipment
Additional Assets
- Underground mining experience.
- CWB Welding Certification.
- HDPE Fusion Certification.
- Rigging and Hoisting Certification.
- Fall Protection Training.
- Confined Space Entry and Rescue.
- Elevated Work Platform Certification.
- CSAM, COR, or equivalent safety training.
- Experience working around shafts, hoists, crushers, conveyors, and ore handling systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and handle construction materials and tools.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated work areas, and underground environments.
- Ability to work extended shifts and rotational schedules as required.
- Physically capable of performing demanding industrial and mining work.
