Bartender / Server / Host — The West End Pub
The West End Pub is looking for an experienced, reliable, and friendly Bartender / Server / Host to join our team. This is a hands-on front-of-house position for someone who can confidently move between serving guests, bartending, hosting, and supporting the daily operations of the restaurant.
We are looking for someone with 3+ years of restaurant or hospitality experience who is comfortable working with a diverse range of guests, from university students and young adults to seniors in their 80’s.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, professional, and attentive customer service
- Serve tables, bartend, greet and seat guests, and assist wherever needed
- Operate the restaurant’s POS system accurately and efficiently
- Process cash, debit, credit, and other payments accurately
- Complete regular inventory counts and ensure counts are accurate and properly recorded
- Monitor food, beverage, and supply levels and communicate shortages or ordering needs
- Track and record all spoilage and waste accurately and consistently
- Follow proper procedures for documenting waste, spills, damaged products, and expired items
- Maintain organization and cleanliness throughout the front-of-house and bar areas
- Follow opening, closing, and end-of-night procedures
- Assist with maintaining accurate records and minimizing unnecessary product loss
- Handle busy periods and multiple customer needs while maintaining excellent service
- Communicate effectively with management and other team members
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of restaurant, serving, bartending, or hospitality experience
- Strong time-management and multitasking skills
- Comfortable working with a wide variety of customers and age groups
- Friendly, approachable, and professional personality
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with inventory, POS transactions, waste, and spoilage records
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable taking initiative and staying productive during slower periods
- Able to remain calm and professional in a busy environment
- Open availability is strongly preferred
- Late-night and closing shifts are preferred
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Smart Serve certification required for alcohol service in Ontario
Compensation & Tips
- Daily tips are included as part of the position.
- Employees participate in the tip pool, with pool tips distributed according to the restaurant’s established policy.
- Opportunities to earn additional income through both individual daily tips and shared pool tips.
- Tip eligibility is subject to completing assigned duties and following restaurant policies and procedures.
Important Requirements
Inventory and record keeping are a crucial part of this position. The successful candidate must be comfortable completing accurate inventory counts and consistently recording all spoilage and waste. Attention to detail and accountability are essential.
Late-night availability is an asset. This position includes evening and late-night shifts, including closing duties, so applicants must be comfortable working later hours.
