Director of Education & Early Intervention Services

Currently FCB is looking to hire a dynamic Director of Education & Early Intervention to join our leadership team and support our Early Childhood Services (ECS) programming, including Early Intervention (EI) and kindergarten.
The primary role of the Director of Education & Early Intervention:
Working in conjunction with FCB leadership team:
- Acts as Kindergarten Principal and is responsible for overseeing and supporting the kindergarten teaching team to deliver the kindergarten curriculum in all FCB kindergarten programs.
- Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day school operations, manages registration processes and class composition.
- Supports the hiring, placement, and caseload assignments for Early Intervention (EI) teams Early Learning Coordinators (ELC) Educational Assistants (EA) working for assigned schools.
- Coordinates the orientation and professional development for EI program staff.
- Provides ongoing support and supervision to ELC’s working within FCB programs.
- Reviews EI programming to ensure compliance with Alberta Education standards and requirements (funding and coding).
- Ensures that all school related Alberta Education standards and documentation are completed.
Duties include:
Early Intervention
● Process funding applications, to determine coding based on Alberta Education guidelines.
● Communication and relationship building with assigned Early Learning partner sites, including annual onsite visits.
● Works to ensure positive relationships with all assigned partner Early Learning sites.
● Ensure the training of EAs and ELCs on current documentation standards and procedures
● Supports the development of efficient documentation policies and procedures that meet all provincial standards.
● Works with ELCs to organize and oversee screening and provides approvals for assessments.
● Review student records to ensure that documentation is completed in a timely fashion and meets the standards of FCB.
● Manage and review the IPP and Early Learner Evaluation goal banks and ensure educational nature of the same
FCB Kindergarten
- Supervise and support teachers with day to day operations and delivery of programming, observe in classroom and have onsite presence.
- Participate in hiring, orientation, and ongoing mentorship of teachers, review teacher growth plans.
- Ensure that policies are reviewed and implemented.
- Promote the programming within the community, through marketing materials, community connections and attending community events.
- Meet with staff to review learning opportunities and develop appropriate instructional strategies to ensure that provincial goals of education are being met.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrates a strong ability to identify and solve problems or challenges as they arise within EI
- Flexible approach that focuses on the unique needs of the child and programming
- Strong understanding of Alberta Education requirements
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in a related discipline and Bachelor of Education is preferred.
- Permanent teaching certification is required.
- Minimum of five years teaching experience with three to five years supervisory experience.
- Experience working with children with special needs and/or with complex needs.
- Knowledgeable in Alberta Education coding criteria & funding requirements.
- Experience with delivery of the kindergarten curriculum
- Strong computer literacy including SharePoint, Word, and Excel.
- A current criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19, proof of vacation is required for hiring
Hours of Work:
Position is based on a 37.5 hour work week (1.0 FTE), 12 month position. This position will be based in-office with additional work required from a variety of locations including partner sites, and FCB school sites. Travel to meetings with employees, families and other relevant parties, training, and school visits as required.
