Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to provide high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including home, community, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for clients by delivering personalized support with professionalism and empathy. This role involves assisting with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for those in need of care. Prior experience in patient care, dementia or Alzheimer’s care, and working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. A strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality is essential to maintain trust and privacy.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs as required
- Support residents with memory care needs such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through specialized care techniques
- Prepare meals in accordance with dietary plans and assist with feeding when necessary
- Observe and document patient condition, behavior, and progress accurately for care plans
- Utilize proper lifting techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safety during transfers
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Follow individualized care plans developed by healthcare professionals or social workers
- Assist with transportation to appointments or community activities when needed
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times
Experience
- Previous experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or hospice care is preferred
- Familiarity working with people with developmental disabilities, autism, or dementia is highly desirable
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and HIPAA compliance are advantageous
- Experience in patient observation, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring is beneficial
- Knowledge of working with specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts is a plus
- Background in social work or long-term care enhances ability to develop comprehensive care plans
- Prior caregiving roles involving heavy lifting or assisting with ADLs demonstrate physical capability for the role
