We have an opportunity for a Vice President, Finance to join our Finance & Accounting team in Richmond, BC. In this role, you will have overall responsibility for the management of the global finance and accounting teams. The VP Finance is an integral member of the senior management team, contributing to the corporate strategy and business execution.
Manage finance teams in all regions to ensure the financial information used by management is prepared to a consistently high standard
Manage the short and long-term financial performance by developing accurate forecasts, monitoring variances to plans and developing action plans to address issues
Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
Oversee daily corporate financial affairs of the company across all regions which includes accounting, tax, audit, treasury, insurance, forecasting and financial information services
Work with external contacts, including accountants, bankers, lawyers, systems suppliers and others to ensure a high level of service and business support
Ensure continuous compliance with all regulatory, securities, tax and other external and internal operating and reporting requirements to which the company is subject. Also, ensure that all statements and filings are prepared and distributed in a timely manner
Provide proactive and creative financial advice, counsel and solutions to support strategic decisions including M&A
Maintain integrity of accounting/reporting systems while implementing changes to impose efficiency of processing and improving availability of management information
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance or business, and a Canadian or US accounting designation.
A minimum of ten years of finance leadership in a growing, public, multi-national company;
Demonstrated leadership skills - team development, recruitment and retention of top talent;
Experienced with US and Canadian public company statutory reporting and disclosure requirements; experienced in cross-border transactions;
Possesses the confidence and presence with the Board of Directors, company management, shareholders and financial institutions;
Exposure, understanding and appreciation of relatively complex corporate tax strategies;
Understanding of Canadian and United States corporate tax issues;
Solid finance, deal-making and capital structuring skills;
Able to quickly assess and simulate the financial dynamics of the company and industry, and act quickly on new initiatives;
Highly developed written and oral communication skills are important;
Has a reputation for high integrity, high intelligence, creativity and the ability to exercise good judgment.
