Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer
- Builds analytic and design skills.
- Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
+ Bachelors of Science, Bachelors of Applied Science or Bachelors of Engineering Degree in Geotechnical Engineering required (or related engineering degree).
+ 0 to 2 years of consulting experience.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills.
+ Critical thinker; thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment; Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment and offer solutions when issues arise
+ General knowledge of basic engineering principles and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment to offer solutions when issues arise.
+ Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.
+ Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner and learn through on-the-job experience.
+ Position requires a tolerance for working in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions.
+ Must be able to bend, stoop and lift objects up to 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license in province of residence.
+ Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
+ OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour safety training courses.
+ Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable.
+ Passing applicable Professional Practice Exam (e.g. Professional Engineers and/or Geoscientists) is recommended.
+ Ability to work independently.
+ Ability to travel, including extended travel, when necessary.
+ Ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients.
+ Fluency in written and spoken French is an asset.
