Hours: Various Hours/Week; Variable Shifts - 8:00pm to 6:00am; 11:00pm to 7:00am; 7:00am-3:00pm

The principal responsibilities of the TECHNICAL ASSISTANT include: assisting the Registered Nurse in the care of patients in the Hemodialysis Unit and assisting the Technologists in the maintenance and monitoring of equipment including; dismantling and cleaning dialysis machines, dialysate and water sampling for Q&A; stocking the supply carts, maintaining backup dialysis machines; monitoring central concentrate system; monitoring and maintaining inventory of technical supplies; adhering to and performing routine safety measures and preventative maintenance; performing departmental duties; retrieving patient’s chart in addition to protecting patient records/information from all unauthorized persons; ensuring general cleanliness of work area; assisting the Registered Nurse and/or patient with other duties as assigned; performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Ability to speak, read and write English
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Previous experience in assistance with patient care; direct or indirect patient care essential
Must be flexible to work any of the possible shifts
Previous medical/surgical experience an asset
Previous experience as a hospital assistant an asset
Technical experience or technical course an asset
CPR an asset
Heavy lifting required
May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations
Effective time management skills and the ability to organize and set priorities
Demonstrates understanding or and ability to deliver excellent customer service
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
