We’re Hiring – Join Our Café Team!
We’re a new neighbourhood café in South Burnaby near Royal Oak Station that is expecting to open in mid August.
We proudly serve carefully sourced coffee, prepare our own pastries and food in-house, and believe that supporting our staff leads to better experiences for our customers. We're building a café that our community can enjoy visiting every day—not just for great coffee, but for genuine hospitality and consistently good food.
We’re looking for our founding team members who are friendly, reliable and genuinely enjoy connecting with others. If you want to be part of a respectful and supportive founding team and take pride in your work, we’d love to meet you.
Positions Available
- Baker (Pastries & Café Production) (Full-time)
This is a hands-on production role responsible for our daily pastry and café food production. The team member is expected to be able to prioritize tasks, manage daily production, and maintain an organized kitchen independently.
While our recipes and operating procedures are already established, we believe great ideas can come from everyone. You'll receive training and ongoing support from our chef, and we're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, thinks critically, and contributes ideas that help us continuously improve our products and kitchen operations.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and bake our in-house pastries and baked goods according to recipes and quality standards
- Prepare sandwiches and other café food items with attention to detail
- Maintain excellent product quality, presentation, and consistency
- Follow established recipes and standard operating procedures while contributing thoughtful suggestions for continuous improvement
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen at all times
- Monitor ingredient inventory and assist in ordering and stock management
- Work independently and efficiently to manage daily production while collaborating closely with the café team
- Take initiative to identify opportunities for improving quality, consistency, workflow and efficiency
What We’re Looking For
- A positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility
- Reliability and willingness to learn
- Attention to detail, cleanliness, food safety and product consistency
- Able to manage time effectively in a production-focused environment
- Comfortable following established recipes and procedures while providing constructive ideas for improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a bakery, café, pastry kitchen, or similar environment.
- Ability to contribute to or refine recipes is an asset
- Availability and eligibility to commit for at least 6 months
- Foodsafe certification required
What We Offer
- Competitive wages of $22-$26 depending on experience and performance, plus tips (sharing the same pool with FOH)
- Opportunity to shape and refine our menu
- A respectful and supportive workplace culture
- Consistent full-time schedule
- Opportunity to grow with a new café from day one
Experience is valuable, but attitude, consistency and care matter most.
We value people who don't simply follow procedures—they understand them, take ownership of their work, and help us make them better over time.
You're welcome to include a short introduction, photos of your work, a portfolio, or anything else that helps us understand your baking and experience better.
We look forward to meeting you!
Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
