POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing geospatial expertise to the Department in developing spatial tools to inform operations, optimize services and deliver insights for program planning. Following corporate data governance standards and practices, this role will provide data and data analytic services to departmental programs and support the stewardship of departmental data and data analytic applications and products.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates/works with stakeholders and follows the corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction related to this function.
- Provides broad geospatial data and analytics expertise and contributes to the advancement of a data and analytics culture in the organization.
- Supports the Corporate vision and strategy related to this function and follows the Corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction including following the Corporation’s policies, programs, processes, protocols and initiatives and work in partnership at the Corporate level.
- Leads and provides expert technical guidance throughout the development and implementation of GIS-enabled business solutions, including requirement gathering, process mapping, solution design, application development, data migration, integration, testing, user training and comprehensive documentation.
- Provides data & analytics services to department and branch programs and supports corporate programs.
- Identifies opportunities and provides technical leadership to enrich data available to the department.
- Applies data processing rigour and automation in support of corporate data acquisition and maintenance requirements.
- Develops custom data products conforming to specifications required of business applications.
- Reviews and applies template data models and advances adherence to applicable data standards,
- Supports activities to advance the Region’s Open Data and Data Stewardship program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a College Diploma in Geomatics, Science, Computer, Information Management, Math, Statistics or related field, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) year of progressively responsible and practical experience providing spatial data and analytics services.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex spatial and non-spatial datasets, applying best practices and principles of data governance, quality assurance, and lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated experience developing custom data, data visualizations, geospatial products, and implementing data sharing processes and frameworks.
