About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a senior woman living at Chartwell retirement residence in London, Ontario. She values her independence but has reached a point where she needs reliable support with daily activities. She has experienced some cognitive changes and occasionally sends away the extensive support available to her, even when she needs help. This is her first time receiving consistent home care, and the family is looking for someone who can build trust and provide gentle assistance.
Responsibilities:
The caregiver will provide companionship and practical support during twice-weekly visits. Primary duties include assisting with mobility and transfers, as the client needs support while walking and moving around safely. The caregiver will help with light errands, including grocery shopping (using their own card with reimbursement through invoicing) and occasional transportation to appointments. The role focuses on being a reliable presence who can help with small tasks as they arise, while respecting the client's independence and comfort level.
What We're Looking For:
We need someone who makes the client feel comfortable and at ease, with a calm and patient demeanor. The ideal caregiver brings positive energy, is reliable and consistent, and has experience working with seniors who have cognitive changes. You should be comfortable providing mobility assistance and transfers, and have your own vehicle for occasional transportation needs. English-speaking is required. This family values clear communication and someone who can take gentle initiative while respecting boundaries.
Schedule:
Two visits per week, two hours per visit (Tuesday and Thursday preferred). The family is looking to start as soon as this week if possible, with ongoing regular support. Flexible scheduling within the week can be discussed to find the best fit for both the caregiver and client.
