The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC located in the beautiful south Okanagan Valley is accepting applications for the position of Water/Wastewater Operator II
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, the Water/Wastewater Operator II participates in the operation and maintenance of the Town's water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. The primary focus will be wastewater, but the successful candidate will-be required to participate in other areas of operation and maintenance as required. This position has supervisory aspects and works alongside the other water and wastewater operators.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma; and
- EOCP Level 2 Water Distribution, EOCP Level 2 Water Treatment plus EOCP Level 1 Wastewater Treatment or Level 1 Wastewater Collections OR EOCP Level 2 Wastewater Collections, EOCP Level 2 Wastewater Treatment plus EOCP Level 1 Water Treatment or Level 1 Water Distribution; and
- BCWWA Chlorine Handler Certificate or equivalent; and
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence with air brakes endorsement (Class 3 licence would be an asset).
Preferred:
- WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TOG) training.
- Training in confined space entry, excavations, fall protection, and underground utility locating.
- CCTV inspection, wastewater sampling, hydrovac, and sewer jetting training.
- Crane truck operator certification.
- Waterborne illness prevention training.
Days of Work: This position is part of the after-hours emergency standby rotation, responds to callouts, alarms, emergency situations and is required to be available on a rotational basis for weekend on-call as required. Must be able to respond within a maximum of 30 minutes to a call out.
Hours per Week: Full-time 40/week - Unionized position
Hourly Rate: $43.90/hour plus a generous benefits package
