Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one (1) full-time, tenure track faculty appointment in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences/School of Nursing with a 5-year renewable appointment as a Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute (TBRHRI) Chair at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
The successful candidate’s work must demonstrate alignment with Lakehead University’s Research Plan and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre/Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute’s Research Plan. A focus on research that can be applied to improve health in Northwestern Ontario within a population health learning systems approach is required.
The successful candidate(s) will engage in a combination of teaching, research, and service duties in line with their appointed rank. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence as early as January 1, 2025.
The preferred candidates will have:
i. An earned Ph.D.
ii. An unrestricted license as an RN (General or Extended Class) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is preferred, however non-RN candidates with relevant academic qualifications, and research, teaching, and service contributions will be considered;
iii. At least one graduate degree in Nursing or health related discipline is preferred;
iv. Demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels and evidence of an effective and established teaching record, and of educational leadership and/or mentorship;
v. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired. Experience with remote and distance delivery teaching and technology is an asset;
vi. Demonstrated commitment to research and scholarship; strong evidence of peer-reviewed academic publications, academic conference presentations, external funding, and knowledge translation activities. Experience integrating research evidence into teaching and practice. A research record and research potential consistent with the expectations for a Research Chair, with health research relevant to Northwestern Ontario.
vii. The potential to make service contributions to the Department and to the Nursing profession (or health related field). The ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively with others;
viii. Demonstrated commitments to equity, diversity, decolonization, inclusion, belonging, and social justice.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to research and knowledge translation into teaching, service, and practice settings. Candidates with expertise in undergraduate anatomy and physiology, nursing ethics, pharmacology, maternal/infant health, child/youth health, mental health, and graduate level nursing theory/philosophy and diversity/equity/social justice are needed, however all areas of expertise are welcome to apply.
