SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant has full cycle accounting and finance responsibilities, encompassing monthly general ledger (G/L) journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly P&L reporting, and results analysis. The Senior Accountant works closely with both senior Finance and Operational leadership to monitor and provide understanding of business results.
Responsibilities include:

Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, fixed asset depreciation, prepaids

Monitor expense variances versus budget and prior year
-
Review monthly statements and balance sheet

Managing deadlines to ensure all filing and reporting requirements are met

Assist in budget preparations
-
Works with branch managers to determine expense variances

Ad hoc reports

Assisting in the training and mentoring of accounting staff
This role requires:
-
5+ years progressive accounting experience
-
Post secondary education with an Accounting focus.

A CPA designation (or near completion).

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
-
Self-starter with demonstrated problem solving skills.
-
Knowledge of AS400 systems, considered an asset.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

Highly analytical, open minded, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks

Occasional travel across Canada to support various locations
