Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Set-up Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and setting up CNC machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, CNC programming, and blueprint reading to ensure efficient and accurate production runs. The successful applicant will contribute to maintaining high-quality standards and supporting lean manufacturing initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC lathe and CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls and other programming languages.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files created in SolidWorks or similar software to determine machining specifications.
- Program, adjust, and optimize CNC machines for various production runs, ensuring precision and efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of CNC equipment.
- Use hand tools, calipers, power tools, welding equipment, and other machining tools to prepare materials for machining processes.
- Conduct quality checks using calipers and other measurement tools to verify dimensions against specifications.
- Follow safety protocols including proper use of forklift trucks and adherence to lean manufacturing principles.
- Document setup procedures, machine parameters, and production data accurately for process improvement.
Skills
- Proven experience with CNC programming and operation on CNC lathe and CNC milling machines.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues effectively.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models (SolidWorks preferred).
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
- Experience with machining tools such as hand tools, power tools, calipers, welding equipment, and assembly techniques.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely when handling raw materials or finished products.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance in a manufacturing setting.
