Horizon Construction Workforce is a leading construction workforce supplier based in the thriving city of Calgary, Alberta.
Horizon Construction is currently seeking:
Skilled Labourers with construction experience who will be doing a variety of duties on site. The right candidate should have a good construction background, be comfortable dealing with a variety of different tasks, and have at least one specialization. Position might include specialized duties such as OFA-2, TCP, basic machine operation, or concrete finishing depending on experience of the candidate.
Duties include:
- Loading & unloading: material handling, allocation & identification.
- Clean up: sweeping & shoveling, material identification, demolition, coordination, organization.
- Tool use: heavy tools, hand tools, ladders; power tools, scaffolding.
- Machinery: swamping, gas tools, tampers, spotting, pumps & hoses.
- Groundwork: grading, digging, leveling & soil transport.
- Concrete: preparation, mixing, placement, chipping, drilling.
Potential specialty - machine operation:
- Operate: Scissor lift, skidsteer.
- Maintenance: routine inspections, basic maintenance, ID & report faults.
- Full awareness of surroundings and especially other workers on site.
Potential specialty - TCP:
- Direct traffic in and around construction sites in line with traffic control plan, including coordinating with larger TCP team.
- Read & interpret traffic control plans.
- Set-up & take-down of traffic control equipment.
- Facilitate deliveries.
- Communicate with public, deliveries, and site personnel clearly and calmly.
Potential specialty - OFA-2:
- Assessing injuries & illnesses: assess severity, and appropriate course of action.
- Administer first aid: small wounds, control bleeding, assist with choking, and address other basic medical needs.
- Fill in first aid forms.
- Refer patients to further medical assistance.
- Follow first aid protocols and safety plans.
Job Requirements:
- 1 year of general labourer experience.
- Must be able to commit to full time employment.
- Able to multi-task and stay organized.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must own basic equipment (pouch & work gloves) and be able to commute to and from job site.
- Must own PPE.
