Seamstress / Seamster – Custom Furniture Production

SIXTREND is a growing Canadian custom furniture company specializing in made-to-order sofas, sectionals, sofa beds, beds, cushions, and upholstered furniture. We are looking for a skilled and dependable Seamstress / Seamster to join our production team at our Toronto workshop.
This is a hands-on, on-site position. All cutting, sewing, and production work will be completed at our workshop using our equipment, materials, patterns, and production specifications.
What You’ll Do
- Cut and sew upholstery fabrics for custom sofas, sectionals, beds, cushions, accent pillows, arm covers, fabric samples, and other furniture components
- Read and follow patterns, measurements, work orders, and production instructions accurately
- Prepare fabric pieces for upholstery production, including matching patterns, aligning fabric direction, and identifying material defects
- Sew zippers, piping, cushion covers, seams, and other upholstery-related details
- Ensure finished pieces meet SIXTREND’s quality, sizing, and workmanship standards
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, consistency, and defects before submitting it to the next stage of production
- Organize fabrics, cut pieces, patterns, and materials for each customer order
- Communicate with the production and upholstery teams regarding order requirements, timelines, material concerns, and project updates
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation
- Assist with other sewing and fabric-preparation tasks as production needs arise
What We’re Looking For
- Proven professional experience with industrial sewing, pattern handling, and fabric cutting
- Previous experience sewing upholstery, cushions, furniture covers, drapery, apparel, or similar products
- Experience using industrial sewing machines and related sewing equipment
- Ability to accurately read measurements, patterns, and production instructions
- Strong understanding of fabric direction, pattern matching, seam allowances, and material handling
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a production team
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet production deadlines
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work on-site at our Toronto workshop
- Comfortable working in an active furniture production environment
- Pattern-Making experience within the furniture profession is a bonus
Experience with custom furniture or upholstery sewing is preferred, but candidates with strong transferable sewing experience are encouraged to apply.
