This contract position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Reaching Home Program and will be administered by the Whitehorse Aboriginal Women’s Circle with support from the Safe at Home Society.
Job Purpose
Reaching Home Background: Reaching Home, Canada’s Homelessness Strategy is a community-based program to prevent and reduce homelessness. Reaching Home requires communities to implement Coordinated Access Systems, which utilize housing prioritization and housing/service matching; to share information via a Homelessness Management Information System [HMIS]; and to use a common assessment tool process.
PATH Process Background: Personalized Assistance to Housing (PATH) is a culturally informed alternative to commonly used assessment tools in the homelessness sector and Coordinated Access systems. PATH facilitates wholistic supports, housing matching, prioritization, and decision-making. PATH is a Living Process that in Phase 2, Part 1 of the Project (funded to March 31, 2025) will be tailored by Whitehorse’s pilot community and others.
Whitehorse Coordinated Access System: The Safe at Home Society works to end and prevent homelessness in the Yukon, bringing together service agencies, government partners, landlords, community members and people with lived experience of homelessness to connect people with housing and supports.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The WhitehorsePATH Coordinator will liaise between Whitehorse and the PATH Process Team, to support pilot activities, such as:
- Connecting local Elder(s), people with Lived/ing Experience, Knowledge Keepers, and trainers to working group meetings, community gatherings, and trainings as appropriate.
- Ability to use team approach in establishing, building, and maintaining effective and meaningful working relationships with prospective organizations, management, and workers delivering the PATH Process, as well as the National PATH Process Team.
- Act as a local point of contact to support workers piloting PATH, connecting back with the PATH Process Team regarding community questions/feedback.
- Administrative duties for the Whitehorse PATH Process Working Group membership, including meeting coordination and taking minutes.
- Manage the Whitehorse PATH Process Knowledge Sharing training and technical course registration, as well as provide administrative supports for training such as on-going communication with learners, assisting them with all non-academic issues, responding to enquiries between live course dates etc.
- Coordinate in-person PATH Process community meetings/gatherings including booking venue, catering, meeting technology, trainer(s) (if required) and managing the invites/attendance for Elders, people with Lived/ing Experience, professional community members, etc.
- Facilitate in-person gatherings specific to local training topics, as identified by the community.
- Support and assist with the initial launch of the PATH Process,as defined by the Whitehorse implementation plan.
- Support and assist with the evaluation of the PATH Process pilot, including data collection and analysis as defined by the Whitehorse evaluation plan.
- Candid photography and gathering local stories for Whitehorse PATH pilot social media & website content.
- Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Indigenous person, preference will be given to individuals of Yukon First Nations ancestry or a person with lived/living experience of homelessness. (please self-identify)
- Post-secondary education: Minimum 2-year diploma in social work, social sciences, and/or a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and life experience.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, Yukon First Nations Self Governments, and other Indigenous groups and organizations
- Demonstrated success in supporting community development projects, as well as building and maintaining community relationships;
- Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating community gatherings; the ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, detail-orientated, and deadline-driven with the ability to plan, coordinate and complete project activities within deadlines to achieve desired outcomes;
- Demonstrated a strong work ethic and passion for excellence with respect to team, client care and supports;
- Demonstrated experience with administrative duties, including online and in-person meeting scheduling, supporting facilitation, note-taking, maintaining online file systems; outstanding writing; ability to prepare and write clear and concise communication and correspondence documents in English;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Google Forms. Project management platforms such as Monday, and design software such as Canva considered an asset. A strong background in managing online meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Team) for events is an asset.. Understanding of the learning management system Brightspace and the qualitative research software Nvivo is an asset. Familiarity with or interest/capability in learning new software programs is valued.
- Prior knowledge or the willingness to learn Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP) and Data Collection in Homeless Services trainings an asset.

- Knowledge of, and respect for, a diverse national community of Indigenous Peoples’ cultures, languages, arts, worldviews, and ways of being;
- Knowledge of Indigenous language(s) and/or French;
- Valid driver’s license
Working Conditions
- This position is based in Whitehorse, The Yukon, and is predominantly in office. The role will also include visits to partners and events in the community.
- This position requires significant screen time.
Remuneration (Hourly Pay Rate and Other Compensation)
- $35.00/hour, 35-37.5 hours per week
- $750.00 self-directed health benefit after completion of 6 month probation, 12 personal days per year, 6% vacation pay.
