Job Title: Summer Camp Counsellor
Salary: $18/hr
Hours: 8:15-4:45pm, 8 hrs a day (30 minute unpaid lunch), Mon-Fri, July 20-31.
Forest City String School Summer Camp is looking for a head counsellor for a 2 week summer camp in July. The camp runs from 8:30-4:30 daily and provides music lessons, art, sports & recreation to young musicians ages 4-18. The Summer Camp Counsellor will provide supervision to campers during recreation time and lunches, assist faculty with camper supervision during classes, and help coordinate the volunteer team.
About Us
Forest City String School Summer Camp partners with Maple and Spruce Music Academy each summer to provide a two-week summer camp for young string players in London and the surrounding area. The summer camp provides a comprehensive music education consisting of orchestra, choir, group classes, private lessons, theory & history, as well as arts and recreation programming. Campers are also provided a daily hot lunch.
The camp is located downtown at a TVDSB school.
Job Description
- Oversee sign in and sign out of campers and the beginning and end of day
- Supervise campers throughout the day and assist with any non-education related supervision for faculty (bathroom breaks, injuries, water etc)
- Plan and implement recreational programming during camper free time
- Assist in coordinating the volunteer team to ensure campers are supervised and supported inside and outside of class
- Coordinate the drop off of lunches from our supplier and distribute to campers
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of our recreation spaces
- Maintain the emergency information binder
- Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Directors
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience working with children
- First Aid and CPR
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Music knowledge is an asset but not required
Position Start Date: July 20, 2026
Position End Date: July 31, 2026
Paid training dates tbd prior to start date.
