JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our team. The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating innovative designs and developing mechanical systems.
DUTIES & FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- A strong background in design that will lend to the efficient development of designs from concept to production.
- Ability to develop models & drawings utilizing Design Tools provided (SolidWorks).
- Strong design background which lends well to developing new and alternative ideas, that meet and exceed internal requirements & keeping pace with changing design requirements.
- Able to present design ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner.
- Able to conform to company standards as it relates to Clek’s design management process.
- Adhere to design control procedures as is typical with any design engineering environment.
- Investigate and implement new methods in Assembly Design that will provide Clek Inc. with a meaningful competitive advantage.
- Anticipate design problems via the use of the DFMEA’s & DFM’s.
- Able to work independently or as part of a cross functional group member.
- Provide regular design status and completion dates followed by an updated weekly status report on Design Progress.
- Participate in design review meetings as/and when required.
- Proficiently utilize Design software provided and be open and willing to learn any new software, software updates & enhancements as directed by Manager.
- Co-operate with fellow employees/peers in a professional manner.
- Actively participate in Design reviews.
- Create/Maintain Design Logbook.
- Perform engineering analysis, interpret results and provide clear report structured document with conclusions.
- Organize and plan multiple work activities while coordinating these activities with others to meet established requirements and design deadlines.
- The Design Engineer may be responsible for other tasks as may be assigned by the Manager.
SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
- Hands-on experience in product design (preferably with respect to plastics, metals, foams, fabrics, etc.).
- Proficient in using SolidWorks CAD system: Create 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Ability to quickly produce 2D & 3D hand sketches to communicate design ideas.
- Understanding of product design for injection molding, metal stamping, die casting, etc.
- Understanding of Product assembly and how it drives component level design.
- Understanding of Functional Component design and ergonomics.
- Understanding of design process, techniques, and design tools, DFM, DFMEA, etc.
- Ability to work within a team environment and with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of the process concerning FEA’s and able to communicate outcome and adjust input parameters to support desired data output.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of Automotive experience or similar (Consumer Product Industry).
- 5+ years of Design experience utilizing Solidworks.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in Designing for Manufacturing (Component Assy, Injection Molding & Stamping Industries).
