Job Overview
We are currently seeking a reliable and flexible On-Call Substitute Early Childhood Educator to support our classrooms as needed. This flexible position offers the opportunity to support our educational programs by stepping in as needed, ensuring continuity of learning and development for students. Ideal candidates will have a passion for early childhood education and experience working with children, including those with special needs or in diverse educational environments.
Duties
- Implement curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to early childhood development standards
- Provide engaging and age-appropriate instruction across subjects such as literacy, math, and social skills
- Manage classroom behavior and foster a positive learning environment through effective classroom management techniques
- Support individual student needs, including working with children with autism or special education requirements
- Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and routines to promote a safe and nurturing environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Support tutoring efforts and reinforce learning objectives during instructional time
- Maintain documentation of student progress and classroom activities as required
- Adapt to different classroom settings and age groups as needed
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in preschool, childcare, or early childhood education settings is preferred
- Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, and behavior management strategies is highly desirable
- Background in special education, literacy education, math instruction, or Montessori methods is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with autism or other developmental differences
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members, parents, and students
- Classroom experience in private schools or diverse educational environments is advantageous
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education is essential
Qualifications:
- Valid BC Early Childhood Educator Certificate
- Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to different classrooms and age groups
Availability:
- Must be flexible and available on short notice
- Preference given to candidates with consistent weekday availability
Wage:
- Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience and will be discussed during the interview process.
