Job Description

We are seeking a creative and energetic professional eager for a new challenge to join our team of content creators and marketers as a Social Media Assistant. We are looking for a candidate within the Kitchener- Waterloo area and is able to start in the position soon.

Our content areas focus on: future of work and education, youth-led innovation and sustainable development (with an emphasis on advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals)

You a good multi-tasker. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working on several projects at a time. You are creative and like to think out of the box, but you know how to stay on task and get things finished. Most of all, you are eager to learn, grow your skills and gain experience in areas of digital marketing.

If the above resonates with you, read on! The social media assistant role gets to wear a variety of hats across our company portfolio—helping to manage the voice of our brands online through social media activations and youth engagement campaigns.

Your work will have several positive effects including helping young leaders take action for local challenges as well as raising public awareness of our company brands on the role of youth-led innovation and future of work trends.

  • Market research to create databases for influencer outreach, client cold-calling, media events and potential leads for strategic alliances
  • Assist with creating content and managing social media channels including Twitter and Instagram and find interesting and shareable content as applicable
  • Stay up-to-date on media and pop culture events to support special appearances and identify new opportunities
  • Help prepare marketing materials such as sell sheets and power-point presentations
  • Work with the marketing team to help grow our reach of the social media channels of our brands
  • Support the marketing team with ad hoc projects as requested.

A recent graduate with a college or university degree in a relevant course eg. English / Communications or Digital Marketing

Willingness to learn with a “can-do” attitude

Extremely organized, efficient, and detail-oriented

Proven ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities

Strong written and verbal communication skills and you must provide some writing samples

Solution-oriented & resourceful, including the ability to use the Internet to research solutions

Team player used to work autonomously with the ability to drive its own initiatives in fast-paced environments

An ability to execute and follow-through
